BEYOND WORD OF MOUTH

Posted on Thursday, 16 October 2008 09:55AM by Kate
How do you find new business when you’re too busy to even think about it? Or, when the phone stops ringing, how can you make sure you have a steady flow of new business leads?

These are just two of the questions CiB Central is putting under the spotlight in its November event that will appeal particularly to freelancers and people with an interest in marketing their services.

Beyond Word of Mouth (or how to find the business that YOU want)
takes place in the meeting room next door to CiB HQ in Milton Keynes on 19 November at 5pm.

Speaker Alastair Campbell worked in the advertising industry during the 80s and 90s before relocating to Leicestershire to become the marketing manager for Lines Unlimited.

He set up the Ideal Marketing Company in 2003 and is currently writing a book on the 17 most effective marketing ideas known to business, as well as running his Marketing Mentoring programme designed specifically for smaller businesses.

Alastair believes that effective, low-cost marketing ideas can work for every business and sums up his approach by saying: “Spend time on it rather than money, do more of what works for you and do some marketing activity every week without fail to avoid boom and bust in your company.”

Other topics to be covered include:

  • USPs - how to stand out from the crowd
  • Positioning - how to charge more / add value for what you do, deciding on your best market sector - and your pricing strategy
  • Channels to customers - how to get your business noticed: maximising PR, networking, web sites
  • Customer service and referrals - how to build the business that is already right underneath your nose.

The topics may be subject to change because delegates who book before 5 November will be able to feed in any particular questions they want answering.

Although the session is aimed at freelancers and small agencies, it is open to everyone.

The session costs £25 plus VAT for members (£29.37) and £35 plus VAT (£41.12) for non-members. The event will be followed by an optional networking meal in a nearby pub, the cost of which is not included. You can pay via credit card on the CiB website.
